Phimosis and Paraphimosis are conditions that affect the foreskin of the penis. While Phimosis refers to the inability to retract the foreskin over the glans (head) of the penis, Paraphimosis occurs when the retracted foreskin cannot be returned to its original position, leading to potential complications.

Gastritis, Acid Reflux, and Acidity

Causes of Phimosis
Phimosis is normal in infants and young boys and often resolves naturally as they age.
Inadequate cleaning under the foreskin can lead to the buildup of smegma, causing inflammation and scarring.
Conditions like बॅलेनायटीस (Balanitis) (inflammation of the glans) or बॅलेनोपोस्टायटीस (Balanoposthitis) (inflammation of both the glans and foreskin) can contribute.
Injuries or forceful retraction of the foreskin can cause scarring, leading to phimosis.
Causes of Paraphimosis
Failure to return the foreskin to its original position after cleaning, medical procedures, or catheter insertion.
A naturally tight foreskin that cannot easily move back into place.
Infection or edema can trap the foreskin behind the glans.
Symptoms of Phimosis
Difficulty retracting the foreskin
Pain during urination or sexual activity
Swelling or redness of the foreskin
Recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs)
स्मेग्माचा साठा (Buildup of Smegma): A white, cheesy substance under the foreskin
Symptoms of Phimosis
Swelling of the glans
Pain and tenderness
Tight band of foreskin trapped behind the glans
Redness or bluish discoloration of the glans
Difficulty urinating (in severe cases)
Prevention of Phimosis & Paraphimosis
Clean under the foreskin daily with mild soap and water to prevent smegma buildup and infections.
Never force the foreskin back, especially in children.
Seek early treatment for any signs of बॅलेनायटीस (Balanitis) or other infections.
Ensure the foreskin is returned to its natural position after catheterization or other procedures.
Use prescribed ointments or creams to maintain skin elasticity and prevent scarring.
When to See a Doctor
Seek medical attention if you experience:
Persistent discomfort in the foreskin or glans.
Pain or inability to pass urine due to the tight foreskin.
If the foreskin cannot be moved back to its original position, it is a medical emergency.
Symptoms like redness, discharge, or foul odor.
If phimosis leads to repeated infections or discomfort.
Bluish or dark discoloration of the glans, indicating restricted blood flow (in paraphimosis).
